The end of the first five day week!

Our first full week of school is coming to a close, and we are finally starting to feel the routine! We are continuing to grow our reading community and build our stamina during read-to-self. In writing, we have started generating ideas for personal narratives. We will begin to focus them, or zoom them in so that we don't tell a whole watermelon story, but rather focus on a tiny seed story!

In math, we are working through our first chapter which is lots of review. We're learning about fact families, inverse operations, missing addends, the order, identity, and grouping properties of addition, and now two-digit addition and subtraction. We'll be ready for our first test next week!

We've also started our first science unit on the topic of plants! Students are so excited about their first experiment. We have "planted" seeds and cannot wait to see what happens to them! Stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!
