Informational Writing Celebration!

Today was an exciting today! We shared and celebrated our informational books! Students worked so hard this quarter on these pieces. I am so proud of each of them! Their books have a Table of Contents, various informational chapters, text features, and some have even included a glossary and/or index and a references page! They should be so proud of themselves! We cannot wait to take them home and share them with our families next week!

Today we began with a "gallery walk" or "museum walk." Students circulated the classroom and read classmates' writing.

We ended with some sweet treats and hot chocolate! Thank you to the parents who sent in the cookies! Students were thrilled!

It was a fantastic morning! I know that students cannot wait to do it again after our next writing unit!

Our Trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden!

Today we visited the Missouri Botanical Garden to learn more about plants! We've been studying them in science. We started off with a class and reviewed food chains. We learned about those in our previous science unit - ecosystems!

We made a "food chain" and "passed" down the energy!

Then, we watched decomposition!

We got to plant our own plants - basil!

It was soon time to explore the garden!

Sour Orange
Sweet Lemon

Rosemary

Picking and smelling sage!

The beautiful Missouri Botanical Garden!

Students were very excited about the Climatron!

More carnivorous plants!

We had a fantastic time! Thank you parent helpers for joining us and making our trip a success!
