Long's Science/Earth Day!

Today our school had its first Science/Earth Day! We enjoyed many fun activities and learned a lot! First, we looked at different things under a microscope!
Next, we learned about the importance of taking care of our planet from Bill Nye the science guy! We love his videos!
Then it was time for Mad Science! How cool!
Later, we had a snack and did an art activity! We designed t-shirts!
Last, we met two speakers! We learned a lot about plants we eat and even planted our own fruit or vegetable! Now we can watch it grow! We also learned about bees!
Thank you guests, visitors, and helpers! We had a great Science/Earth Day!

Goodbye, Mrs. Beczkala!

Tomorrow is our student teacher, Mrs. Beczkala's last day! Today we surprised her with a few gifts - a book of advice we made for her and a video! While we will miss her, we wish her the best of luck becoming a classroom teacher next year!

Opinion Writing - Speeches

Today students shared their persuasive speeches! It was wonderful hearing each other share things we are passionate about like littering, having a longer lunch time, or showing more appreciation for our custodians and other school staff! I am so proud of them for their bravery in getting up in front of the class to present their speeches! Way to go!

Shadows

On Thursday we did an "experiment" to learn about shadows! We went outside in the morning and students traced the place of their partner's shadow using sidewalk chalk!

We returned that afternoon to find that our shadows were no longer in the same place!

We are very much enjoying this unit on the earth, sun, and moon!
