Speech Presentations

Today we celebrated the persuasive speeches we've been working hard on in writing! First, we worked in groups to engineer some microphones to set up our presentation spots! Some students then presented to a small audience, while others wanted to give their speech to the whole class! We had lots of fun! Their voices were definitely heard, and many of us are now inspired to pick up trash to help with pollution, or say thank you to a family member or school staff member because these people sure do a lot for us!

The Week Blog #2

This week in reading we moved on from the Civil Rights movement. We learned about Flyers, connecting to our schools history. We also read a book on Hellen Keller, which I was exited to read.
We've also started a book tournament called March Madness. Mrs. Kuhl hasn't said much about it, but it's coming.
This week we learned about fractions on a number line. Cool, right?
This week in Social Studies we have started a project. In the project we'll use the Social Studies interview to pack a suitcase in our trip to America. But we're saving the finished ones for next week, so stay tuned.

I hope you all had a great week!!!

The Week Blog

This week in reading we made Chatter Pix about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln to go with our biography unit and the upcoming holiday.
We also finished multiplication and division for the year! We made some goals to keep on working.

Sadly, the iPad is not working. No more photos for this post.

This Folk Tale Friday we read a book called The Heart Of A Friendship. It's about a monkey named Taki who becomes friends with a crocodile. This crocodile wants Taki's monkey heart, and the friendship is ruined.

We just started a math chapter on fractions. Woo hoo!

Next week we're going to work on publishing our persuasive writing!😃

Hope you all had a good week!

Valentine Celebration

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day! First, we wrote about the things that fill up our hearts!

Then, we filled each other's hearts with compliments! There were even tears of joy and happiness when reading the compliments written by peers!

We also had an afternoon assembly to celebrate Jump Rope for the Heart and the fundraising accomplishments of our school! One of our classmates got to show off his favorite jump, and the P.E. teachers got silly stringed!

Finally, we headed back to our classroom for a valentine party! Thank you families for planning and putting on such a fun event! We had a fantastic last party of this school year!

What Happened This Week

Happy Valentines ❤️ Day, everybody!
This week in reading, we've been going back even farther than Martin Luther King Jr.! We learned a lot about George Washington in the past few days.
One said he went to school, and one said he was homeschooled. Gotta look that up.😜

We've almost met our goal on the challenge! Just a little more to go!
We'll also be celebrating even more kindness next week with a whole kindness week!

Monday, 2/13: Dreaming of Kindness - students may wear pajamas
Tuesday, 2/14: Valentine's Day - Wear pink or red
Wednesday. 2/15: Peace, Love, & Kindness - Wear Tie-Dye
Thursday, 2/16: Ride the Kindness Wave - Wear Hawaiian clothes
Friday, 2/17: School Spirit Day!

Hey parents, get your kids ready cuz Tuesday is our math test!⛄️
