We had so much fun celebrating Halloween! Thank you families for planning and hosting such a wonderful party in our classroom!

Narrative Writing Celebration

Our first quarter writing unit focus was personal narratives! Students learned to write a small moment, 'seed' story! We celebrated and shared by setting up a museum gallery walk!

NCADA

We are very lucky to have the opportunity to learn about friendships, teamwork, and other wonderful topics from the NCADA! Students love having a guest teacher provide us with lessons that positively impact our classroom and school community!

Plants!

In our first science unit, we studied plants! We grew our own bean seed plants, conducted several experiments, and took a field trip to the Missouri Botanical Garden on October 17!

The Best Part of Me

For our first writing project, students wrote about their best part! This activity is based on the book The Best Part of Me by Wendy Ewald. Many students chose their hands while others selected ears or hair! :-) Students participated in a gallery walk celebration on September 2, 2016.

Third Grade 2016-2017!

The 2016-2017 school year is officially underway! We have been busy establishing routines and learning procedures in our classroom! We developed a class mission statement and have begun leadership positions (class jobs)!

We also did a community building activity and learned about kindness and the power of our words! Once toothpaste comes out of the tube, you just can't get it all back! 

We've also begun establishing a reading community! This group really seems to enjoy reading! Way to go!

Some of our work has also made it to the hallway! We're off to a great start!
